Takes us into the world of a collective of anonymous, radical "hackers" who have redefined civil disobedience for the digital age. The film explores early hacker groups such as the Cult of the Dead Cow and Electronic Disturmance Theatre, then moves on to the anonymous beginnings of the website 4Chan. Through interviews with current members, people recently returned from prison or facing trial, writers, academics, activists and key players in various "busts," the anonymous documentary evolves from merry pranksters into a full-fledged movement with global reach, the most transformative civil disobedience in our time.
