Movie: Back Street (1961)
Film Synopsis:
Ambitious but thwarted, Rae Smith meets handsome Marine Paul Saxon, (of the Saxon department store chain), when he passes through Lincoln, Nebraska, on a trip returning home from World War II. There was a definite spark between them but circumstances intervened and he left town without her. Then she found out that he was married. Determined to make it as a fashion designer, Rae moved to New York and became a huge success. One day she happened to meet Paul again and again there was a spark but he was still married so, as a form of escape, Rae moved to Rome to set up shop. Once again she meets Paul and eventually they begin a real affair because Pauls dodgy and drunken wife, Liz, wont grant him a divorce. Time passes, the affair continues whenever time and place permit, but then, Pauls young son finds out about Raes traveling world and Rae begins to fall apart.
