Movie: Between Heaven and Hell (1956)
Film Synopsis:
Sam Gifford remembers: In the antebellum years he was a proud southern cotton plantation owner, married to a colonels daughter. At the start of the war he was mobilized with a National Guard unit as a sergeant. There came a day when, revolted by the cowardice of his lieutenant, who had fired upon his own troops, he struck him down. Downgraded, he was sent to a disciplinary battalion. Sam now discovers his new detachment, its new commander, is simply a cowardly brute, Captain Waco Grimes.
