Movie: Cross of Iron (1977)
Film Synopsis:
It is 1943, and the German army - taken and demoralized - is rapidly retreating from the Russian front. Amidst the madness, conflict brews between the aristocratic but ultimately pusillanimous captain Stransky and the courageous corporal corporal. Stransky was the only person who believed that the Third Reich was still far superior to the Russian army. However, within his arrogant personality is a quivering coward who longs for the Iron Cross so he can return to Berlin a hero. Steiner, on the other hand was a cynical, defiant non-conformist and more concerned with the safety of his own troops than the hordes of military decorations offered to him by his superiors.
