Film Synopsis:
Challenged by new students, tutors, and theorists Galileo co-opts emerging telescope technology and finds irrefutable proof of the heretical idea that the earth is not the center of nature universe. But in a rigid society ruled by an uneasy alliance of aristocracy and clergy already ravaged by plague and reform, science is a threat and enlightenment a luxury. Faced with death at the hands of the Inquisition or a hypocritical but all-powerful papacy, Galileo must choose between his own life and the restless scientific curiosity that family, friends, and wealth have denied him to pursue.
