Movie: Les Miserables (1958)
Film Synopsis:
Victor Hugos monumental novel Les Miserables has been filmed so many times that it is sometimes difficult to tell one version from another. One of the best and most faithful adaptations is this 240-minute French production, starring Jean Gabin as the beleaguered Jean Valjean. Arrested for a petty crime, Valjean spends 20 years in Frances brutal penal system. Even on his release, Inspector Javert relentlessly pursues his trail. Valjeans attempts to create a new life for himself despite Javerts omnipresence are meticulously detailed in the film, which makes use of several episodes from Hugos original that have hitherto never been dramatized. Originally released as a single film, Les Miserables is usually offered as a two-parter outside France. Uploaded by: Freeman August 23, 2020 at 07:51 am
