Film Synopsis:
In 1970, a British film crew sets out to create a straightforward literary portrait of James Baldwin in Paris, insisting on putting aside his political activism. Baldwin beats around the bush on their questions, and the result is a cut-throat between the filmmakers and their subjects, in which the author visits the Bastille and other Parisian landmarks and reflects on revolution, colonialism, and what it meant to be a black expatriate in Europe.
