Movie: Solarbabies (1986)
Film Synopsis:
In a future where most of the water has disappeared from the earth, we find a group of children, mostly teenagers, living in an orphanage, run by despotic ruler of the new earth. The group in question played a hockey based game on roller skates and were pretty good at it. It has given them a unity that transcends attempts to bring them to heel by the government. Finding a ball of special power, they felt it had an unusual effect on them. They escape from the orphanage (on roller skates) and try to cross the desert looking for a place they can live free when the stormtroopers search for them and the ball.
