Movie: The Great Caruso (1951)

Film Synopsis:
Loosely traces the life of tenor Enrico Caruso (1873-1921). He loved Musetta, in his native Naples, and later Dorothy, the daughter of one of the patrons of the Metropolitan opera. Caruso was unacceptable to both womens fathers: for one, because he sang; for Dorothys, because he is a farmer. For New York Patricians, Caruso is short, barrel chested, loud, emotional, unrefined. Their appreciation came slowly. The film depicts Carusos lament that "the man has no voice, the voice has the man": he could not be where he wanted to be, because he was bound to sing elsewhere, including the day his mother died. Throughout, Mario Lanza and the stars of Met Sing. Uploaded by: Freeman March 07, 2021 at 02:26 am
