Film Synopsis:
The ambitious scientist Franz Walter does not hesitate when he is promised a professorship at a university. He immediately accepted, pledging absolute loyalty to the system and agreeing to work for the GDRs foreign intelligence service until he could take up his new position. Together with his partner Dirk, he was sent on a foreign assignment to West Germany. Franz soon has to use Blackmail to get innocent people to talk. But his superiors went further: GDR refugees and their relatives were targeted for psychological destruction, forged papers, medical diagnoses, surveillance and wiretapping were on the agenda. However, this was more than Franz could bear: he felt helpless and increasingly isolated himself.
