Movie: The Patriarch (2016)
Film Synopsis:
Its the 1960s. Two Maori families, the Mahanas and the Poatas, search for a loving sheep on the east coast of New Zealand. Two clans, who are bitter enemies, face each other as rivals in an annual sheep-shearing competition. Simeon is a 14 year old descendant of the Mahana clan. A bold schoolboy, he rebels against Tamihanas authoritarian grandfather and his traditional way of thinking and begins to uncover the reasons for the long-standing discord between the two families. Soon, the established hierarchies and structures of society fall apart because Tamihana, as stubborn as she is proud, is not ready to agree and pursue a new path.
