Film Synopsis:
When disillusioned Swedish knight Antonius Block returns home from the Crusades to find his country in the grip of the Black Death, he defies death to the chess match of his life. Driven by the belief that God does not exist, Blok sets out on a journey, meets the traveling cast of JOF and his wife, Mia, and determines to avoid death long enough to perform one act of redemption while he is still alive.
