Film Synopsis:
In a Danish village in the early 1600s, a young woman named Anne, whose mother is thought to be a witch, develops sympathy for an old woman, Marte, accused of witchcraft. The intervention of Annes older but friendly husband Father Absalon saves her mother - but now, pressed by her overbearing mother, she refuses to help Marte.
