Movie: Hangmans Knot (1952)
Film Synopsis:
In 1865, a force of Confederate soldiers led by Major Matt Stewart attacked a gold wagon guarded by Union cavalry and the soldiers were killed. The sole injured survivor says that the war ended one month ago, and the group decides to take the gold and meet their liaison who knew that the war ended but didnt tell the troops. The hardened Rolph Bainter kills the greedy man and the soldiers escape in a train driven by Major Stewart. When they encounter a posse pursuing them, Stewart provides false information to mislead the group; However, they had an accident with the cart and lost their horses. They decide to stop the stagecoach and force the driver to transport them, but the posse returns and they are stuck at the station with the passengers.
