Film Synopsis:
An old leper who owns a remote sorghum winery dies. Jiuer, the wife bought by the leper, and her lover, identified only as "my grandfather" by the narrator, take over the winery and establish an idealized quasi-matriarchal community led by Jiuer. When Japanese invaders established their rule and reduced the sorghum to make way for roads, the people rose up and resisted when the sorghum grew again.
