Film Synopsis:
India, 1937. Anne-Marie Stretter is the wife of the French Ambassador and lives a separate but privileged life in Calcutta. The boredom of her existence was relieved by numerous illicit love affairs with government officials, young men who found her an object of desire and fascination. The Vice-Consul was driven mad by his love for her and, driven from the ambassadors palace, wept like a sick animal.
