Movie: Marius and Jeannette (1997)
Film Synopsis:
Jeannette is a single mother living in a working class community in Marseilles; She tries to support herself and her two children on her salary as a check-out girl at a supermarket and lives in an apartment complex where everyone is thrown in close proximity to everyone else. Marius works as a security guard at a cement factory that goes out of business; He also squatted in the building, because the factory would soon be demolished and he would need the money later. One day, Jeannette happens upon a factory, and seeing several cans of paint, tries to take them both home with her. Marius sees him and tries to throw him out, while he lambasts him with curses against the capitalist system. The next day, an apologetic Marius appears at the door, paint can in hand; The two soon become friendly, and romance begins to bloom, although it quickly becomes clear that Jeannettes romance novel fantasies are quite far from what Marius has in mind.
