Movie: Silent Running (1972)

Film Synopsis:
In a future Earth barren of all flora and fauna, the planets ecosystem exists only in large pods attached to spaceships. When word arrives that the pod must be jettisoned into space and destroyed so the spacecraft can be reused for commercial purposes, most of the Valley Forge crew rejoices at the prospect of returning home.
