Movie: Androcles and the Lion (1952)

Film Synopsis:
George Bernard Shaws breezy and delightful dramatization of this classic fairy tale - about a Christian slave who pulls a thorn from a lions paw and escapes death in the Colosseum as a result of his good deeds - written as a meditation on modern Christian values. Shaws final production Pascal is broadly cast, with comic character actor Alan Young as the titular naive. He was ably supported by Jean Simmons, Victor Mature, Robert Newton, and Elsa Lanchester.
