Film Synopsis:
In 1839, the slave ship Amistad sailed from Cuba to America. During the long journey, Cinque led the slaves in an unprecedented rebellion. They were later detained in Connecticut, and their release was the subject of heated debate. Freed slave Theodore Joadson wanted Cinque and others freed and recruited property lawyer Roger Baldwin to help with his case. Eventually, John Quincy Adams also became an ally.
