Movie: Marius (1931)
Film Synopsis:
Cesar runs a bar along Marseilles harbor, assisted by his 23-year-old son, Marius. Colorful Characters Galore: M. Panisse, an aging widower and prosperous sailmaker; Honorine, a fishmonger with a sidewalk stall near the bar; His daughter, Fanny, who helps him sell shellfish outside the bar; and various old salts. Friends since childhood, Fanny and Marius love each other, but Marius has a secret wanderlust: The whistle of every ship awakens a longing for foreign lands. When M. Panisse seeks Fannys hand in marriage and when the departing clipper needs a deck, Marius and Fanny must decide who and what they like best.
