Film Synopsis:
In July 1945, at the end of World War II, Japan was forced to accept the Potsdam Declaration. Cabinet meetings continued through the day and night, but a decision could not be made. The US dropped atomic bombs on the cities of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, Japan. General Korechika Anami was torn about making the right decision and the Japanese emperor was worried about his people. Prime Minister Kantaro Suzuki presided over the Cabinet meeting, while Chief Secretary Hisatsune Sakomizu could do nothing, but watch the meeting. At this time, Major Kenji Hatanaka and other young commissioned officers, who had resisted the Japanese surrender, moved to occupy the palace and radio broadcasting station.
