Film Synopsis:
A working class family in Londons East End is struggling to stay afloat during the recession under Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher. Only Maviss mother works; Pastor Frank and the couples two sons Colin, a shy, chronically shy individual and Mark, an outspoken and stubborn young man, are at the dole. This situation is contrasted by the presence of Maviss sister Barbara, and her husband John, whose financial and social splendor seems a convenient facade for the unspoken pain of a lackluster marriage.
