Film Synopsis:
Following the detonation of atomic bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki, the Japanese military and government clash over demands from the allies for unconditional surrender. Army Minister Anami led military officers who proposed fighting, even to the death of every Japanese citizen. Emperor Hirohito, however, joined his ministers in requesting the unthinkable, a peaceful surrender of Japan. When the military plans a coup to overthrow the emperors civilian government, Anami must face a choice between his desires and his loyalty to the emperor.
